This essay explores the relationship between one section of The Urantia Book’s "The Life and Teachings of Jesus" and a previously published book, Leslie D. Weatherhead’s Jesus and Ourselves which was clearly its main source. It appears that much of the content of hundreds of sections in Part IV was derived from a relatively small number of American and British books published between the 1880s and the 1930s. This analysis contributes to a greatly enhanced understanding of the Papers, showing how ingeniously the original and derived elements of the narrative are woven together. |
